The DeWalt D28144 6-Inch High Performance Cut-Off/Grinder is equipped with steel-cut spiral bevel gears, which provide users with the most durable transmission available, and patent pending CEC - Complete Electronic Control system for increased durability. The CEC system includes several innovative features, including E-Clutch, an electronic clutch mechanism that detects a pinch or bind-up situation and shuts the motor off immediately to reduce the risk of burn-up. It also reduces the risk of kickback during operation. The CEC system also features Power Loss Reset, that prevents accidental restarts following a disruption of power, and a patent pending Power-Off advanced overload protection system that monitors the temperature of the grinder and automatically shuts the motor off if it approaches burn-up or motor overload conditions. As an additional durability feature, the new DeWalt 6-Inch high-performance cut-off/grinders offer end users DCP -Dual Clutch Protection. This system prevents the gears from stripping by complimenting E-Clutch with a mechanical clutch. The D28144 includes dual abrasion protection in the motor, which features an epoxy coated field that protects the copper in the motor and an armature debris deflector that deflects dust and debris away from the motor. The patent pending Dust Ejection System also increases motor durability by ejecting debris that enters the tool through the air-intake vents. In order to increase power without significantly increasing tool girth, DeWalt built this line of high-performance cut-off/grinders with a patent pending 4-piece G55 motor. This innovative motor design allows for 50 percent more copper to be housed in the motor versus standard motors by employing next generation coil winding processes.
